Food Converter

The aim of this project was to create an app that changes the way current apps convert food. Most converting apps are the same and don’t consider how different measurements need to take account of different food items.

Recipes always contain an ingredients list prior to cooking a meal. This list not only provided the items needed but also addresses the amount needed. Often however different sources use different units for example some use cups, some ounces, some grams. Depending on the type of equipment available users often have convert all of the measurements before proceeding with the recipe. An error in the conversion can leave food not achieving the desired taste or consistency. There is also the issue that quantities are different for different food types ie sugar, powder, liquid. This could be why in the US only 10% enjoy cooking, due to the time and money It takes. The app will make use of a smarter way to convert ingredients that is quicker for users and encourages them to enjoy cooking.

Goals the App Tackles

Encourage a visually engaging interface that boosts cooking motivation

Allow the app to quickly measure out food to reduce long time brackets

Reduce confusion of ingredient conversion

Reduce the need for needing lots and lots of extra equipment

Sitemaps

The sitemap was the most important stage of the process as it determined the content that was to be shown. Using sticky notes was useful as it allowed the content to change based on testing with actual users. Overall there would be four main areas of the app, the login section, a profile section, a convert section and finally a recipe section
